Red Hinoki is distinguished from lighter hinoki materials by its richer, darker wood profile. The aroma is dry and woody with subtle smoky, balsamic, and resinous undertones, balanced by a gentle warmth rather than overt freshness. It carries a grounding, contemplative quality. Less bright than classic hinoki, but more refined.

Red Hinoki functions beautifully as a heart-to-base note, adding structure and depth without heaviness.

Recommended concentration: 0.5–5% depending on the role within the composition
