There is nothing more quintessentially Arabian than the pairing of Oud and Rose. Oud and Rose Eau de Toilette is strong and smoky, with animalic and and wood notes. Gently balanced by sweet and dry Damask Rose. Extremely sensual, heady and exotic.

Oud or Oudh, forms when Agarwood becomes infected with a parasite mold and secretes a protective oil into the wounded area. Over time, the oil becomes darker and harder. The result is a rich, musty, woody-nutty scent that is one of the most highly prized perfume ingredients in history and to this day. It is extremely important in the production of incense and believed to be an aphrodisiac, both as an incense and perfume.

In Petra, I purchased a powdered form of Rose Damask originating in Syria. In it's dried form it is sweet, slightly aromatic and very spicy. In April, Rose Damask is harvested for the essential oil used to cleanse the outer walls of sacred structures, like the Kaaba in Mecca. Rose water and oil are used in perfume and food. I would be remiss if I didn't honour the "rose-red city half" with a rose note.
