The opening is clean and antisepti. Sharply medicinal, with a camphoraceous bite that reads as green and slightly spicy rather than icy. It is less mentholated than eucalyptus and less sweet than cajuput; more resinous, more herbal. Over time the sharpness fades into a warm, spicy herbal note that lingers longer than you might expect for a top note material. Terpinen-4-ol, its dominant compound, is responsible for most of this character and for the antimicrobial activity that makes it so widely used in skincare and personal care.

Tea Tree Essential Oil works primarily as a top note with functional crossover into personal care and cosmetic applications.

Recommended concentration: 0.5–2% in finished fragrance formulations; up to 5% or higher in functional skincare application.
