Pure Essential Oil | Amyris balsamifera

Amyris Essential Oil is a steam-distilled essential oil derived from the wood of Amyris balsamifera. Often referred to as “West Indian Sandalwood,” it offers a soft woody character with gentle sweetness and balsamic warmth.

Amyris presents a smooth woody profile with creamy, lightly sweet undertones and subtle balsamic depth. Compared to true sandalwood, it is lighter and less creamy, with a drier wood tone and faint resinous nuance. The aroma feels calm and rounded, providing warmth without heaviness.

Amyris functions primarily as a base note, adding woody softness and mild fixative support.

Recommended concentration: 1-25%

Particularly effective in:
Woody ambers, soft orientals, creamy floral bases, sandalwood-style compositions

Blends well with:
Sandalwood, cedarwood, and vetiver
Vanilla and balsamic resins
Florals such as jasmine and ylang ylang
Musks for extended diffusion

Suitable for non-perfumery applications including candles, soaps, and home fragrance

It adds warmth and body while remaining smooth and understated.

The first rule of perfumery: never work neat.

Every professional perfumer works in dilution. It's not a beginner shortcut, it's the correct way to evaluate and blend aromatic materials. At full concentration, materials smell harsh, inaccurate, and often overwhelming. You're not smelling the material, you're smelling too much of it.

When you dilute a 5ml aromatic material to a 10% solution, you extend it to 50ml of working stock. That's five times the material to experiment with, evaluate, and blend, without wasting a drop of something precious and expensive.

For powder materials like ambroxan, calone, and vanillin, dilution isn't optional, it's essential. Powders need to be fully dissolved in ethanol before they can be accurately measured, evaluated, or incorporated into a formula. Without this step, you simply can't work with them properly.

This bundle gives you everything you need to start working correctly from the first session.
