A material with centuries of history behind it and a character strong enough that a little goes a long way. Sage Essential Oil, Pungent, herbaceous, and deeply Mediterranean, is one of perfumery's great aromatic modifiers.Steam distilled from the leaves and stems of Salvia officinalis, the common sage of kitchen gardens and hillside scrub across the Mediterranean basin, it carries the full complexity of the living plant: camphoraceous and green on the opening, warm and spicy in the heart, with a quiet mineral depth underneath.

The opening is immediate and assertive: sharp, camphorous, with a green freshness that reads as both culinary and medicinal at once. It is warmer and less resinous than rosemary, more mineral and less phenolic than thyme, with a distinctive thujone-driven edge that gives it a character no synthetic can accurately replicate. As it develops the camphor recedes into something softer, drier, and more balsamic, with a spicy warmth that sits well in masculine and aromatic structures. Strength is high and diffusiveness exceptional. This oil announces itself well before the other materials in a formula do.

Sage Essential Oil works as a top-to-heart note modifier and herbal accent, used at low concentrations for maximum effect.

Recommended concentration: 0.5-2% in finished fragrance formulations; maximum 0.4% in leave-on topical applications due to thujone content.

Particularly effective in:

Classic fougere, chypre, and aromatic cologne structures
Masculine and unisex herbal compositions
After-shave and grooming fragrance
Herbal and aromatic home fragrance and candles
Shampoo, soap, and deodorising personal care products where a clean, herbal character is desired

Blends well with:

Herbaceous aromatics, lavender, rosemary, clary sage, basil
Citrus notes, bergamot, lemon, petitgrain
Spice, black pepper, coriander seed
Woods and resins, patchouli, cedarwood, oakmoss
Fresh and green materials, fir needle, violet leaf, galbanum

Suitable for candles and home fragrance where a warm, herbal character is desired (within IFRA limits). Not recommended for use in lip products.
