Patchouli Essential Oil (PA 65%)
Patchouli Essential Oil (PA 65%)
Essential Oil | Pogostemon cablin
Patchouli oil is produced in two broad quality tiers: standard-grade, which runs at around 28-35% patchoulol (patchouli alcohol) and accounts for the majority of global supply, and high-patchoulol grades like this one, where additional fractional or vacuum distillation concentrates the patchoulol content to 65% or above. The difference in aromatic character is significant. Standard patchouli has a rawer, earthier, more diffuse quality with a noticeable green and camphoraceous edge. PA 65% is cleaner, richer, and more refined, with the characteristic woody-earthy patchouli character more concentrated and the rougher volatile facets reduced. It is the grade preferred for fine fragrance work where patchouli is a primary note rather than a background modifier.
Sourced from Pogostemon cablin grown and distilled in Indonesia, which produces approximately 90% of the world’s patchouli supply, this oil carries the deep, warm character of Sulawesian patchouli at its best.
