Essential Oil | 100% Artemisia dracunculus

Tarragon Essential Oil is a steam-distilled essential oil obtained from the leaves of Artemisia dracunculus, used in perfumery to introduce green, herbal, and lightly aniseed facets. Sharp yet elegant, it adds freshness, lift, and aromatic definition to botanical and aromatic compositions.

Tarragon Essential Oil presents a green, herbal profile with pronounced anise-like sweetness, soft spice, and a lightly peppery edge. The aroma is crisp and vibrant rather than heavy, with a fresh leafy quality that feels clean and aromatic. In perfumery, it reads as bright, lively, and slightly unconventional, adding a culinary-adjacent herbal nuance when used carefully.

Tarragon Essential Oil functions primarily as a top-to-heart note, shaping freshness and aromatic clarity.

Recommended concentration: 0.05–0.5% (very potent)

Particularly effective in:
Green, herbal, and aromatic fragrances
Modern colognes and fougère-inspired structures
Botanical and niche compositions seeking lift and contrast

Blends well with:
Citrus notes (bergamot, lemon)
Lavender, clary sage, and other aromatics
Soft woods and musks for balance

Suitable for non-perfumery applications such as soaps, candles, and home fragrance at low levels

Small amounts provide clarity and freshness; overuse quickly dominates.

The first rule of perfumery: never work neat.

Every professional perfumer works in dilution. It's not a beginner shortcut, it's the correct way to evaluate and blend aromatic materials. At full concentration, materials smell harsh, inaccurate, and often overwhelming. You're not smelling the material, you're smelling too much of it.

When you dilute a 5ml aromatic material to a 10% solution, you extend it to 50ml of working stock. That's five times the material to experiment with, evaluate, and blend, without wasting a drop of something precious and expensive.

For powder materials like ambroxan, calone, and vanillin, dilution isn't optional, it's essential. Powders need to be fully dissolved in ethanol before they can be accurately measured, evaluated, or incorporated into a formula. Without this step, you simply can't work with them properly.
