Aromatic Material | Fragrance Base

Lactone Accord is an aroma chemical used in perfumery to introduce creamy, milky, fruity, or coconut-like nuances. It is primarily used to add softness, roundness, and a smooth, tactile quality to compositions rather than a sharply defined note.

Lactones present a smooth, creamy profile that can range from milky and buttery to peachy, coconut, or lightly waxy. They create body and mouthfeel, making fragrances feel fuller and more sensual. Rather than reading as overt sweetness, lactones soften edges and add a subtle, skin-adjacent richness that supports florals, fruits, and gourmands.

Lactones are typically used as modifiers or heart-to-base supports, shaping texture and volume.

Recommended concentration: 0.05–20%

Particularly effective in:
Creamy white florals (tuberose, jasmine, gardenia)
Fruity-floral and gourmand structures
Coconut, milk, and skin-scent effects

Blends well with:
Rose and white florals
Vanilla, tonka, and benzoin
Musks and soft woods

Suitable for non-perfumery applications such as candles, soaps, and home fragrance at controlled levels

Small changes in dosage can significantly alter perceived richness and creaminess.

The first rule of perfumery: never work neat.

Every professional perfumer works in dilution. It's not a beginner shortcut, it's the correct way to evaluate and blend aromatic materials. At full concentration, materials smell harsh, inaccurate, and often overwhelming. You're not smelling the material, you're smelling too much of it.

When you dilute a 5ml aromatic material to a 10% solution, you extend it to 50ml of working stock. That's five times the material to experiment with, evaluate, and blend, without wasting a drop of something precious and expensive.

For powder materials like ambroxan, calone, and vanillin, dilution isn't optional, it's essential. Powders need to be fully dissolved in ethanol before they can be accurately measured, evaluated, or incorporated into a formula. Without this step, you simply can't work with them properly.

This bundle gives you everything you need to start working correctly from the first session.
