Dried Root Pieces | Zingiber officinale

Dried Ginger Root is a bold, warming botanical prized for its unmistakable spice and versatility. Sharp, energising, and aromatic, ginger adds heat and lift to incense blends, herbal infusions, and culinary formulations alike.

Raw: Warm, spicy, and slightly woody with a dry, peppery bite. The aroma is bright and penetrating.

Heated / Smouldered: When gently heated, ginger releases a sharp, warming spice aroma that is lively and stimulating rather than sweet.

Infused / Tea: Produces a strong, warming infusion with a spicy, slightly sweet heat and a clean, lingering finish.

Ginger has been cultivated for thousands of years across Asia and is one of the world’s most widely used spice roots. It has deep roots in culinary, herbal, and trade traditions and remains a staple in both sweet and savoury preparations.

In aromatic and creative practice, dried ginger root is used to:
~ Add warmth and energy to incense blends
~ Complement citrus peels, resins, and sweet spices
~ Create contrast in botanical compositions

In culinary and beverage applications, it is widely used in:
~ Herbal teas and warming infusions
~ Chai and spice blends
~ Baking and confectionery

Its strong personality makes it best used in moderation, where it brings structure and warmth without dominating a blend.

The first rule of perfumery: never work neat.

Every professional perfumer works in dilution. It's not a beginner shortcut, it's the correct way to evaluate and blend aromatic materials. At full concentration, materials smell harsh, inaccurate, and often overwhelming. You're not smelling the material, you're smelling too much of it.

When you dilute a 5ml aromatic material to a 10% solution, you extend it to 50ml of working stock. That's five times the material to experiment with, evaluate, and blend, without wasting a drop of something precious and expensive.

For powder materials like ambroxan, calone, and vanillin, dilution isn't optional, it's essential. Powders need to be fully dissolved in ethanol before they can be accurately measured, evaluated, or incorporated into a formula. Without this step, you simply can't work with them properly.

This bundle gives you everything you need to start working correctly from the first session.
