Di Propylene Glycol is the workhorse solvent of the fragrance industry. Odourless, stable, and miscible with most aromatic materials, it is the preferred carrier for reed diffusers, room sprays, and oil-based roll-ons, and an essential diluent for resins, accords, and fragrance bases that are too viscous to weigh or blend accurately at full strength. When you dilute a 5ml material to a 10% solution in DPG, you extend it to 50ml of working stock. Five times the material to experiment with, evaluate, and blend, without wasting a drop of something precious.

For powder materials like ambroxan, calone, and vanillin, DPG works alongside ethanol as a co-solvent. Some powders dissolve more readily in DPG than in alcohol alone, and the slower evaporation rate makes it easier to evaluate how a material behaves at rest rather than on the lift.
